The Dominion LX (DLX-xxx) was Raritan’s previous generation of affordable KVM-over-IP switches for small and medium businesses. LX went end-of-sales on March 15, 2019. End-of-support is scheduled for March 15, 2021.

Designed for small to midsize businesses (SMBs), Raritan’s new, Java-free Dominion LX II enables IT, data center, lab, and network administrators to remotely manage computer and serial devices to maximize uptime, avoid travel and quickly resolve issues.

Dominion® LX is Raritan’s affordable KVM-over-IP switch that provides IT managers in small and midsize business (SMB) environments with local and remote BIOS-level server management in 8 port and 16 port switches (expandable to 256 servers with tiering).

It’s ideal for Small to Midsize Businesses looking for a small footprint and reliability with affordability.

Main Features

Remote BIOS-Level Server Management

Web-based access to servers from anywhere on the network (LAN, WAN, Internet& dial-up), allowing administrators BIOS-level control to troubleshoot, reconfigure and reboot servers remotely.

Virtual Media over-IP

Comes equipped with virtual media to enable remote tasks, such as software installation, remote booting and diagnostics, using a variety of CD, DVD, USB, internal and remote drives and images.

Broad Video Format Support

A suite of multi-platform CIMs let you connect to VGA, DVI, HMDI and DisplayPort, USB, PS/2, Sun® and serially controlled servers.

Strong Security

Utilizes strong password settings, password retry lockout, and the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Also integrates with Active Directory®, using either LDAP or RADIUS.

True Multi-User Switch

An independent local port enables simultaneous local and remote sessions to two different servers. Up to 8 remote users can control a single server.

Web-Based User Interface

Same user interface, local or remote, means full management functionality and a consistent user experience that is easy to learn.

A Synchronized Mouse

Absolute Mouse Synchronization provides perfect synchronization without changing server mouse settings - the ultimate in plug-and-play!


HD Video Resolution

Remotely access digital applications on remote servers with remote 1920x1080 video resolution and advanced color calibration.

  • The D2CIM-DVUSB has dual USB connectors and should be purchased by customers who wish to utilize virtual media at the OS and BIOS levels
  • The D2CIM-VUSB has a single USB connector and is for customers who will use virtual media at the OS level.
  • LX supports DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort video with the D2CIM-DVUSB-DVI, D2CIM-DVUSB-HDMI and D2CIM-DVUSB-DP CIMs

A CIM is a “server dongle” that connects a PC, server or workstation to a device via a Cat5/6 cable. There are multiple types of CIMs to support the different types of computer ports (USB, PS/2, VGA, HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, serial) and to perform features such as virtual media.
